Description : When you save a file and get the "Replace existing ?" dialog, this extension will make the Replace button, rather than the Cancel button, be the default. Requires System 7 or later. Will not slow down your Mac. Freeware. On PowerPC systems running Mac OS 8.5 or later, some applications use a different style of dialog, which Replace! can also modify, as shown below. Version 1.1.1 fixes a bug in this case: the Replace button looked like the default, but pressing Return still activated the Cancel button.

    JavaScript API Reference

The rest of this book contains a quick-reference for the core and client-side JavaScript APIs. It documents the complete core JavaScript API, covers the legacy (Level 0) DOM API, and presents a simplified view of the W3C Level 2 DOM API. Portions of that API not relevant to JavaScript programmers working with HTML documents have been omitted. The upper-right corner of the title block for each reference entry contains information that states whether a feature is part of the cor....

    History of DNS

The Domain Name System is one way to resolve host names in a TCP/IP environment. In non-Microsoft environments, host names are typically resolved through host files or DNS. In a Microsoft environment, WINS and broadcasts are also used. DNS is the primary system used to resolve host names on the Internet. In fact, DNS had its beginning in the early days of the Internet. In its early days, the Internet was a small network established by the Department of Defens....

    Networking Hardware

Establishing a Linux TCP/IP network requires two components of hardware: the network interface card (NIC) and the network medium. As with most things in life, you can opt to go for an inexpensive card and medium or spend lots more money for full-featured items. As the amount you spend increases, you get more functionality and benefits, although usually with diminishing returns for your dollar. Before deciding on the type of network interface cards to use (unless you already ha....

    Antivirus Software

Antivirus software (or anti-virus) is computer software used to identify and remove computer viruses, as well as many other types of harmful computer software, collectively referred to as malware. While the first antivirus software was designed exclusively to combat computer viruses (hence "antivirus"), modern antivirus software can protect computer systems against a wide range of malware, including worms, rootkits, and Trojans.Anti-virus software ty....

    Network Media

The type of cabling used in a network is called the network medium. Today, networks use many types of cables, although only a few types are in common usage. Some of the more exotic types of cables are very expensive. The type of cabling can have an influence on the speed of the network, although for most small- to medium-sized local area networks this is not a major issue. Twisted pair cabling is one of the most commonly used network mediums because it is cheap and easy to wor....
